Job Overview
One of the high advance job class damage dealer available to unlock once you hit level 30. A Dark Knight place amongst the many melee damage dealers isn't any better or worst than the other DD jobs outside of possibly Ranger. The damage a Dark Knight can do various from player to player depending on how each player
manage to equip their Dark Knight. I've seen a Dark Knight damage to be on par with the other jobs while at times I've seen them do massive damage that can rival a Ranger. It's debatable on whether or not a Dark Knight is the second best melee damage dealer next to Ranger. With so many damage dealers looking for groups, your
wait time to get invited to a party varies. Some may have to wait for hours to days to get invited to a party while others have a more easier time getting invited. Dark Knight is also one of the less expensive jobs to maintain as well.
A Dark Knight have Rank A proficiencies with Great Sword and Scythe type of weapons. The more common used ones are Scythe but either weapons will do just fine since they can get their weapon combat skills to rise fairly quickly on both. You best bet is to use both type of weapons and raise each of their combat skills up.
Sub Job Combos
Drk/War: This is a nice common combo that you will see most Dark Knight use. With Warrior as a sub job, you can act as a back up provoker when the
situation arises, plus you get Berserk to increase your damage output as well as the Double Attack trait.
Drk/Thf: This is a good combo to go with besides Warrior. Warrior as a sub will give a Dark Knight the boost in attributes that he/she needs when meleeing but a Thief as a sub will give that overall extra damage output to a mob. Having a thief as a sub job gives you the all important Sneak Attack and Trick Attack combo. When using SA/TA with your WS attack, you damage output can be huge and enormous and even tanks like Paladin have a hard time getting hate back. The drawback
is that with such a high damage output, a mob will turn its attention to you and you won't be able to take many hits as easy as you can with a Warrior as a sub job. You might be wowing yourself with how much damage you do but you might be also end up dead too.
Drk/Sam: There's not much to this combo or benefits. The only reason to be subbing a Samurai is at level 60 where you can use the Samurai meditate ability
for quicker access to TP. Other than that, avoid subbing Samurai.
Dark Knight Job Quest
Locatioin: Bastok Mines
Client: Gumbah
Reward: Able to be a Dark Knight
Requirements: A level 30 job on hand.
Items Needed: Chaosbringer
Change to a level 30 job and head to Bastok Mines at J-7 and talk to Gumbah. You'll get a cutscene between Werei and Volker talking about the Palborough Mines. If you don't get this cutscene then talk to Gumbah again to get it. Once you do, you need to head to Palborough Mines third floor. On the third floor head to H-8 and hop on a boat and ride it back to Zeruhn Mines. You'll meet Zeid through a cutscene upon arriving Zeruhn Mines. He'll give you a greatsword called Chaosbringer. Only a Warrior or Darkknight can equip this sword. Since you aren't a Dark Knight yet, you need to be a Warrior to use it. With the Chaosbringer equip, you need to go out and kill 100 mobs. Doesn't matter where, just that you need to do it. The Chaosbringer is a level 1 equip so it's best to kill weak mobs. A couple things to note though. You can use Weapon Skill to attack but you cannot use a Weapon Skill attack as the death blow or else it won't count toward your 100 kills. There's no way for you to know exactly how many you have killed so far with the Chaosbringer unless you manually count it yourself. Once you think you have 100 kills with Chaosbringer, head to Beadeaux. If you have a 100 kill then you would get a cut scene with Zeid upon entering Beadeaux. After the cut scene you are awarded the Dark Knight job.
